A totally proportional electric trailer brake control, the new Primus®IQ is self-leveling so no level adjustment is necessary.

Utilizing the primary sensor technology from Prodigy®, the Primus®IQ now includes the Boost feature that gives users the ability to apply more initial trailer braking when towing heavier trailers. It works proportionally in reverse for backing into tough spots and includes a snap-in dash mounting clip and removable electrical connector that allows the unit to be quickly stored when not in use. You will appreciate the digital readout depicting a secure electrical connection, amount of voltage delivery to the trailer brakes and diagnostic features incorporated in the LED display.

There are five classes of Hitches for towing trailers. Each class is designed for a specific trailer weight range.

The class of hitch you choose is mostly determined by your vehicle and its towing capacity. The vehicle towing capacity of your vehicle determines what it can be used for. Smaller cars and SUVs can only handle smaller loads and probably will use a Class I hitch. Large trucks and vans are built for larger loads and can use a Class III, IV or V hitch.

With any towing setup, there is always the need for a few additional items. Though your trailer hitch and ball mount may be tough enough to haul that heavy load, they cannot properly tow without a few supporting players. Towing accessories are a practical addition to your rig that add the finishing touches and take your towing experience to a whole new level.

Fifth wheel hitches are designed for carrying much heavier loads than the typical ball hitch can handle. The front edge of the trailer extends over the rear bumper of the pickup truck. The attachment point is in the bed of the truck, not at the rear bumper. When properly installed, the weight of the trailer is actually pressing down between the cab of the pickup and the rear axle. This allows the truck to carry a significantly greater amount of weight -- a much larger trailer, in other words.

Unlike regular hitches that extend from the back of the towing vehicle, gooseneck hitches, and the closely-related fifth wheel hitches, are anchored through the bed of a pickup truck. Gooseneck hitches use a hitch ball to lock into place, while fifth wheel hitches use a wheel-shaped plate to accomplish the connection. Besides their strength, gooseneck hitches are also popular because the types of trailers they pull are able to make tighter turns than the ones that connect off the back of the towing vehicle.

Gooseneck hitches are offered in a few types of configurations. They are designed to be mounted above or below the pickup bed. Either design (above or below) allows for minimal obstruction when the ball is not in the towing position. This permits full use of the pick-up bed. Gooseneck hitches can handle up to around 30,000 pounds (about 13,000 kilograms).

This product is designed to mount under the truck bed for use with a gooseneck trailer. A 3-1/2" hole in the truck bed is required for installation and operation. The ball is stored upside down in the hitch when not used, with a magnetic cover to keep dirt and debris out. Gooseneck Hitches

These units mount on top of an under bed rail system. The ball is either removed or folded down for easy access. These units offer additional convenience and save time.
